Due to the constant need to wash and disinfect my hands, they were in a pitiful state. Despite all of the testing with different products, I didn't see any substantial improvements.
I used moisturizing creams, oils, body butters and aloe vera, and nothing seemed to worked. They helped, but didn't completely get the job done. Slightly annoyed, but even more intrigued, I wondered why.
Today I got a flash of enlightenment!
E X FO L I A T I O N !!
Clearly, no moisturizer would fully work, without firstly exfoliating! That top layer of dry and flaky skin had to go and thus promote cell renewal. Only then would the skin receive all of the nutrients from creams, oils or butters. Dah for me.
I started thinking about what I had at home to prepare a scrub.
That was easy, I immediately thought of brown sugar, ground coffee, strawberry seeds or bamboo pearls. Undoubtedly, all valid options, although the last two are milder exfoliaters and therefore more suitable for the face.
I chose to mix a little of both, using brown sugar and used recycled coffee grounds, as they still retain 90% of coffee's wonderful properties.

This scrub is extremely simple to prepare and with a few extra advantages, it's suitable for whole body, natural, vegan and Zero Waste. Plus it smells divine.

You can add any of the following options, neat or mix them up:

Place a full teaspoon on previously washed hands, and massage gently.
Wash off the grains with only water, and leave the iols to their job.
Don't forget mixing well your scrub before each use, so that the oils and the sugar/coffee are well blended.
For those who don't have the patience for DIYs, even if it's straightforward.
