Sodium benzoate and potassium sorbate is a liquid cosmetic preservative, developed for use in cosmetic formulations. It can be used both in "leave-on" products and in rinse products.
With a pH value suitable for the skin of up to 5.5, it has a wide and balanced spectrum of effect against bacteria, yeasts and fungi. This type of preservative is accepted by the Soil Association for use in products that seek accreditation from the Soil Association.

Emulsions:
In practice, the emulsions are preserved with the addition of 0.5 - 1.5% sodium benzoate and potassium sorbate.
Solutions:
Sodium benzoate and potassium sorbate are typically used in concentrations of 0.5 - 1.5%.
It does not affect the foaming results of the shampoo or shower gel. Being highly useful as a preservation system in these products, as long as the pH is below 5.5.
Sodium benzoate and potassium sorbate are fully effective in cationic and non-ionic systems.
